Drystone walls, garden steps, fieldstone hearths, and chimney repointing. We work with what's already on the property — there's almost always more good stone in the ground than people realize.

What we do

Drystone: Walls, terracing, garden edging, retaining walls up to four feet.
Mortar work: Fieldstone hearths, chimneys, foundation repair, repointing.
Restoration: Old wall rebuilds, period-correct repointing on pre-1900 structures.
Consultation: Site visit and written assessment. Two-hour minimum. $180.

Hillside terrace, three tiers

Three-tier drystone terrace built from native limestone on a 1.2-acre slope. 142 linear feet of wall, 78 tons of stone, no mortar.

2024 · LOVETTSVILLE, VA

Chimney rebuild — 1847 farmhouse

Full upper-stack rebuild of the original fieldstone chimney; salvaged 90% of the original material. Lime-mortar pointing throughout, hand-pressed by Daniel.

2023 · BLUEMONT, VA

Inglenook fieldstone hearth

Fourteen-foot inglenook with reclaimed bluestone mantel. Featured in Virginia Living, autumn 2023.

2022 · WATERFORD, VA

Drystone garden wall, period-correct

Reconstruction of 90 feet of original 1840s drystone boundary wall on a historically registered property. National Park Service review.
